Five Reederei Blue Star Vessels have qualified for the UK Met Office Excellent Awards 2008
By: Christoph Werner
Beside of computer based weather forecast there is still the vital need for meteorological reports from ships in their world wide trade. These information on ocean weather conditions are not only used for the preparation of marine weather forecasts and warnings for shipping but also for climatological, atmospheric and oceanographic studies.
Reederei Blue Star GmbH always set a high value on the safety at sea as well as on environmental aspects. So it is just conseqential that most of their vessels are participating in a voluntary World Weather Watch.
Today we are pleased to inform that five of our vessels, the MAERSK DAUPHIN ex MSC MALAYSIA, MAERSK SANTANA, MAERSK SEOUL, MAERSK SINGAPORE and the NEDLLOYD MAXIMA, have qualified for the UK Met Office Excellent Awards 2008. This Awards does not only recognize the quantity of meteorological reports but also the quality of the individual observed parameters and the timeliness of their receipt, which, again. is a demonstration of the professionalism and the commitment of the officers on board
